How to catch a fish-Sustainable fishing game

Students see in an experiment how the mesh size of a fishing net influences the amount of bycatch. Different dried food represent different animals. Students calculate the average fish catch and think about the (negative) consequences of fishing for the environment.

Instead of providing each group with all the ingredients the experiment can also be done in a demonstration with the whole class where multiple pairs of students have a net with a different mesh size.
